私たち現代書作家協会は、創立者、武士桑風が「現代書」の創造という大命題をかかげ創立されました。臨書部門は協会の特徴たる基盤であります。とくに古典を重要視して古典臨書を習得する、すなわち文字の骨格を覚えてもらうことで表現はより自由になり古典の展開と無限の創造があります。

協会の特徴である基盤作の臨書については、もっと先入的概念から一度白紙にかえり鋭く原帖を見つめその本質の把握に努めてほしいと思います。

そこに新しい発見と創造が生まれます。

現代書の表現は、文字から生まれたものも、文字をはなれて書いたものも自由であります。創作については、自己の感覚、知性とゆるぎない伝統の中に、あなたの感動を自由に自主主張してほしいとおもいます。

書の原点は「意をあらわす」ことにあります。いわゆる字を書くということは、意をあらわすための最短距離であることを忘れてはならないし、この最短距離が余計な技巧の壁によって逆に遠く隔たったものになることも忘れてはならないです。真の工夫はそこを突き抜けることにあります。

当会は臨書部門、現代書部門どちらもたとえ個人で出品されていても授賞可能な公平な審査が行なわれております。

臨書部門

Classical Calligraphy Division

• まずは何を書くのか、先生と相談して課題を決めましょう。（現代書作家協会に属されていない方は、事務局までお問い合わせください）
  For the Classical Calligraphy Division, participants will consult with their teachers to determine the assigned theme. If you are not a member of the Contemporary Calligraphy Writers Association, please direct your inquiries to the secretariat. 
• 課題は出品規定に掲載されている課題碑法帖名から選びます。
  The assigned theme will be selected from the designated calligraphic models listed in the exhibition guidelines. 
• 初出品の方は二科からの提出です（一科からでも受付可能）
  First-time exhibitors are required to choose NIKA devision (though submission under IKKA devision is also accepted). 
• 書く紙の大きさを決めて練習を始めましょう
  Once the paper size for writing has been determined, participants can begin their practice and preparation.
• 締め切りは2024年5月10 日（第56回展の場合）です。
  The deadline for submissions for the 55th exhibition is May 10, 2024. 

現代書部門

Contemporary Calligraphy Division

• どのような作風、 紙、墨 、筆 を使うか 先生と相談して決めましょう。（現代書作家協会に属されていない方は、事務局までお問い合わせください）
  For the Contemporary Calligraphy Division, participants will consult with their teachers to determine the type of work they will create and decide on the paper, ink, and brush to be used. If you are not a member of the Contemporary Calligraphy Writers Association, please direct your inquiries to the secretariat. 
• 作品のイメージを考えてみましょう。
  Participants will contemplate the image they wish to convey through their artwork. 
• 文字性・非文字性にかかわらず書く（描く ）事が大切。塗るとか、垂らすは認められません。これを踏まえて素材や技術の幅を広げ、作品制作にチャレンジしてみましょう。
  Regardless of the shape of the characters, the act of “writing” is crucial. Techniques such as “smearing” or “dripping” are prohibited. With this in mind, participants will explore various materials and techniques to create their works. 
• 締め切りは2024年5月16日（第56回展の場合）です。
  The deadline for submissions for the 55th exhibition is May 16, 2024. 

現代書とパフォーマンス書道との違い

現代書は、文字の形や表現方法にこだわらず様々な素材の筆や墨を使って、個々の作品を通じて内面や感情を表現することを重視しています。一方、パフォーマンス書道は、音楽やリズムに合わせて文字を書くことで、視覚と音響の要素を組み合わせた演出を目指しています。

現代書部門

最高賞は桑風賞 （正会員対象）、大澤賞（出品者全員が対象）、新人賞（新人対象）
